Life Legacy
Genevieve Dailey VanLuven, 87, a resident of Copenhagen since 1953, passed away Tuesday morning at her home.
She was born in Carthage, June 10, 1923 a daughter of Ryel and Gladys Perkins Dailey. She married William F. VanLuven October 12, 1939 at the Watertown Free Methodist parsonage. Mr. and Mrs. VanLuven operated a dairy farm in Copenhagen for many years.
Mrs. VanLuven is a member of the Carthage Mennonite Church, and was a member of the former Free Methodist Church in Watertown.
Besides her husband William, she is survived by a son Ronald VanLuven, Florida. Two daughters, Carol (VanLuven) McLallen, So. Edmonston, NY and Jean (VanLuven) Brunson, Copenhagen. A sister, Ethel (Dailey) Parent, Watertown. A brother Harold (Buddy) Dailey, Cortland, NY. 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy (Dailey) Hibbard and Beverly (Dailey) Neice, and Elizabeth (Dailey)Johnson, a half sister, Vivian (Dailey) Paquin and a brother William (Billy) Dailey.
The funeral will be 3 pm Saturday, January 22nd at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown, with Pastors Edward Roggie, David Haldeman and Jeff McLallen officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Copenhagen. A calling hour will be Saturday from 2 pm 3 pm prior to the service. Contributions may be made in her name to Friends of Lewis County Hospice.
