Elizabeth Ann Majak, 58, Harris Dr., died Friday morning at the Samaritan Medical Center. She had been ill with cancer.

The funeral will be Sunday 2pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Duthie, pastor of the Rutland Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Rutland Center. Calling hours are Sunday from 12 noon until 2pm at the funeral home.

Anna M. Carlson, 84, of 664 Emerson St., died Sunday afternoon at the home of her son-in-law Richard Tibbles, under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

June 29, 2008 Helen L. Lister, 81, of 1167 Gill St., died Sunday at the Samaritan Medical Center where she had been a patient for one month.

The funeral will be Wednesday 10 am at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with her grandson, Rev. Shane Lynch, pastor of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wells and St. James Major in Lake Pleasant, officiating. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery. Funeral services for Gerald A. Peck, Sr. will be 11 am Thursday, July 3rd at the Reed & Benoit Funeral with Rev. Leon VanWie, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Dexter Cemetery. A calling hour will be Thursday from 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home.

Mr. Peck, 86, formerly of 914 Academy St., died January 15th in Rochester. His wife, Geneva, died November 23rd, 2003

Margaret H. Williams, 87, of 122 No. Pearl Ave., widow of Kenneth G. Williams, died Thursday afternoon at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Donald R. Williams

June 11, 2008

Donald R. Williams 66, of County Route 53, Watertown, died Tuesday evening at his home after a long illness.

Mr. Williams was born July 8, 1942 in Watertown to Clarence E. and Reda Rose Williams. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1960. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 and served a total of 22 years active and reserves. Mr. Williams was a mechanic at Northrup Motors, Quick Motors and Kittle Ford before becoming Director of Logistics at Fort Drum from 1977-1989. He later worked for GSA on Fort drum as fleet manager until his retirement in 2002.

The funeral service will be Saturday 10am at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Farr Emmanuel Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Friday from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at the funeral home.

John A. Frazier, 70 , Star School Rd. , Dexter died Tuesday at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home after a brief illness, where he had resided for 12 days.

Dr. J. Blair Harff

Watertown – Dr. J. Blair Harff, 46, of 26151 Co. Rte. 160, died Sunday morning after a farming accident at his home. Born April 13th, 1962, in New York City, he graduated from Colgate University in 1984 and in 1988 received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University. In 1998, together with his wife, Nina, also a graduate of Cornell University, he opened The Animal Doctors Veterinary Clinic after a previous association with the Watertown Animal Hospital.



A celebration of Blair’s life will be held at the couple’s home on Co. Rte. 160 this Thursday afternoon from 4 -6 pm. All those who would like to pay their respects to the family are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Watertown Hockey Association, PO Box 371, Watertown, NY 13601. The money will be used for future ice improvements, additions and youth hockey programs.

James St., died Tuesday at the Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Lowville, October 2, 1930, a daughter of Bazil and Lottie Matuszczak Putz, she graduated from Lowville Academy. Following her graduation from high school, she worked for the Lewis County Welfare Department.

She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey L. and Margaret, Stamford, CT, Timothy R. and Marianne, Beaverton, OR, Scott A. and Denise, Watertown. 7 grandchildren, Katelynn, Brendan, Megan and Erin Gray, all of Stamford; Kelsey, Kendall and Jarrett Gray, all of Beaverton, OR. A sister and brother-in-law, Helen and C. Richard Mihalyi, Lowville, a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Dorene Putz, West Monroe. Several nieces and nephews. A grandson, Jeffrey Robert Gray predeceased her.

Ernest G. Jeican, 77, of 134 E. Hoard St. died Saturday morning at his home.

Mr Jeican was born April 24 1930 in Watertown to Constantine and Helen Szobo Jeican. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1947 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served for three years.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday 11am at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in the spring.

Phillip F. Patenaude, 71, of 627 Thompson St., died Tuesday morning at the Samaritan Medical Center where he was admitted October 3rd.

A prayer service will be Thursday 12:15pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at 1pm at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Richard Kennedy, officiating. Marie L. Augustus, 90, formerly of Outer Bradley St. Rd., and widow of Clyde E. Augustus, died Sunday in Clinton, NC where she had resided since 2000.

Harley Edwin Watson, 75, of 336 W. Main St., Curtis Apts., passed away at his home under the loving care of his children and Jefferson County Hospice on Wednesday, October 3, 2007.

Harley loved crossword puzzles, Tuesday night movies, bingo, monthly sing-a-longs where he played his 1950 Gibson guitar and his nightly card game with his friends. He was especially proud of his time spent at the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center where, in addition to his job as a bus driver, he devoted endless hours of his own time working with the clients on talent and Christmas shows. Whether family, friends or strangers, he always shared his smile and good nature with all he met. His willingness to do for others, no matter how large or small the favor, was his everlasting gift to those who knew him. A memorial service will be Saturday, 3pm at the Reed and Benoit Funeral Home in Watertown. Calling hours are Saturday from 1p – 3pm at the funeral home. His ashes will be scattered with his wife, Noreen, at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, Harley’s family requests that those who loved and cared for him make donations in his name to the Syracuse VA Hospital or Jefferson County Hospice, 425 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601.

Helen T. Sprague, 90, of 1010 Washington St., died Tuesday morning at her home under the care of Hospice of Jefferson Co.

A memorial service will be Saturday 10 am at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Leon Van Wie, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private in Sanfords Corner Cemetery, Calcium. There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made to Asbury Methodist Church or to Hospice.

Deborah S. Davis 56, of Jefferson St. died Friday evening at her home from heart failure.
