The funeral for Willis W. McCormick will be Tuesday, 11am at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Cathy Hamilton, retired pastor of the Calcium Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery, Belleville. Calling hours are Monday from
4p – 7pm at the funeral home.
Mr. McCormick, 84, of Ridgedale Court and formerly of Woodville, died Friday at his home.
He was born in the Town of Watertown, June 23, 1923, a son of Lyle and Hazel Bedor McCormick. He graduated from Evans Mills High School in 1943. Mr. McCormick was the feed mill manager for the Roe Farm Service Feed Mill in Woodville for many years until the mill closed. He owned and operated the Sunoco Gas Station in Belleville from 1972 – 1980.
He returned to Roe Feed’s as a dairy nutrionist at the Limerick and Philadelphia mills retiring in 1998 after 50 years of service.
Mr. McCormick enjoyed gardening, fishing and listening to the Black River Fiddler’s. He was a member of the Calcium Community Church.
He married Joan Dorr May 24th, 1947. Mr. and Mrs. McCormick lived in Woodville for 50 years before moving to Calcium in 2004.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Fred Smith, Lowville, Susan and Jim Noble, Pulaski. 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Bonnie, Brownville, Jack and Diane, Watertown. 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. 2 brothers, Gordon, Lowville and Gerald, Copenhagen. Several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Robert and Frederick and a sister, Shirley Salter.
