The funeral for Ruth A. Kerr-Parish will be Wednesday, May 28th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Wilson, pastor of the Smithville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Calling hours are Tuesday from 6p – 8pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Ms. Kerr-Parish, 53, of Sheffield Apts., died Thursday in the Samaritan Medical Center from complications of Emphysema.
She was born in Gouverneur, October 23, 1954, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Boscoe Kerr. She graduated from General Brown High School. She attended cosmetology classes at Jefferson County BOCES. She was employed at Jefferson Rehabilitation Center and was a waitress as several restaurants to include Verilli’s, Rt. 3, Henderson until retiring due to ill health.
Her hobbies were crafts, scrapbooking, sewing and painting. Four marriages ended in divorce.
She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Eggleston, Florida. A son and daughter-in-law, Derrick and Merci Schmitte, San Diego, CA. 3 daughters, Jessica Rosette, Bethesda, MD, Cheyne and Stewart Nicholas, Adams Center, Sarah Aitken and her fiancé’ Michael Douglas, Glendale, AZ. A step-son, Nathan Parish, Adams Center. 4 grandchildren. 3 brothers, Kirk and Myrna Brown, John and Mary Kerr, all of Gouverneur, Doug Eggleston, Kapolei, Hawaii. 2 sisters, Karen Subach, Philadelphia, PA, Amy and Terry Barclay, Carthage. Several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, John Kerr, her step-father, Ralph Eggleston, and a brother, Leon Brown.
