Clarence C. “Bud” Minor

The funeral for Clarence C. “Bud” Minor will be Saturday 11:30am at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with The Rev. Anne Wichelns, Associate Priest of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Brownville, officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 6p – 9pm and Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601.
Mr. Minor, 81 of 208 E. Bronson St., died Wednesday evening at his home.
He was born in Watertown, May 9, 1927, a son of John and Mollie Carlin Minor. He graduated from Watertown High School. Mr. Minor served with the US Navy from 1944 until 1947, serving aboard the USS Pocono. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked for a time for the New York Central Railroad. He went to work for the J.J. Stocker Co. as a business machine repair technician retiring in the mid 1990’s after 40 plus years of service.
Mr. Minor bowled in several city, county and merchants bowling leagues carrying a 189 average over many years. He was inducted into the 700 Club after bowling his first 700 triple during the 1962-63 season. At that time, there were only 24 members of the 700 Club. He also was an avid golfer, playing at the Rustic and Willowbrook Golf Courses.
He married Ellen Lehman, December 31, 1971. A previous marriage to Barbara V. Cluckey ended in divorce.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael J., Kinston, NC. A daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jeffrey Hansen, Brownville. 2 step daughters and a step son-in-law, Victoria Lehman, Arden, NC, Cynthia and Thomas Schneider, Lowville. A step-son, Francis Lehman, Orlando, FL. 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren. A sister, Madeline Mouck, Pulaski. Several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, John P., 4 sisters, Ann Osbourne, Eleanor Fitzgerald, Rosemary Minor and Elizabeth “Betty” Howard, and a step-son, Richard D. Lehman.
