June K. Hunt, 79, of Curtis Apts. died Sunday 5:30pm at the River Hospital, Alexandria Bay where she had been a patient since Thursday.

Mrs. Hunt worked at the Olga and Shaughnessy Knitting Mills and the Watertown High School cafeteria until her retirement. After her retirement, she became a certified day care provider assisted her daughter with her day care business.

She was born in Watertown, April 13, 1928, a daughter of William H. and Pauline M. Marino Johnson. She attended catholic schools in Watertown. She married Harlow Richard Hunt on July 18, 1946 in a candlelight service at the Central Church of Christ in Watertown with Rev. Henry W. Gair officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt resided at 724 Lillian St. and spent summers on Point Peninsula. Mr. Hunt, a Niagra Mohawk Power Corporation employee, died November 17, 1992.

Mrs. Hunt was a volunteer census taker for the Watertown School District, a member and former treasurer of the North Side Improvement League auxillary and a former member of the Rebekah’s.

Her first enjoyment was being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and listening to country music.

She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law,. Harlow R. “Abe” II and Tamara S., Cumming, Ga., Stephen M. and Barbara GT., Watertown. 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Jan H. and Edward Ward, Watertown, Lori J. and Brian Wilcox, Theresa. 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. A sister, Beverly J. VanEpps, Rochester. A brother Roger Johnson, Watertown. Several nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Richard W., Charles J., David and Wayne Johnson predeceased her.

A memorial service will be Saturday 2pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Calling hours are Saturday from 12 noon until 2pm. Burial will be private following cremation. Contributions may be made care of her grandson Harlow R. Hunt, 6135 Mapperly Lane, Cumming GA 30041, who is undergoing kidney dialysis and is awaiting an organ transplant.
