Mary Zobel Horeth June 6, 2008

Mary Zobel Horeth Mary Zobel Horeth, 95, widow of Michael Horeth and formerly of St. Lawrence Ave., died Friday morning at the Samaritan Medical Center. She had resided at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home for the past 5 years.

Mrs. Horeth had been employed as a domestic at several Watertown homes while growing up. She also worked at the silk mill in Watertown and Fulton. For many years, she helped operate a dairy farm on St. Lawrence Ave., Brownville with her husband. She resided on St. Lawrence Ave. for 63 years.

She was born in Watertown, May 17, 1913 a daughter of Johann and Katherine Bachner Zobel Toper. She attended Watertown schools. She married Michael Horeth, July 1, 1933 at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Massey St., Watertown. Mr. Horeth, a New York Air Brake employee and dairy farmer, died June 20, 1990.

Mrs. Horeth was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church and Keo Kee Council # 43, Degree of Pocahontas.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Thomas Fulton, Watertown. A daughter-in-law, Nancy Horeth, Brownville. 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. 2 brothers, John Toper, Watertown, Martin Toper, Adams Center. 3 sisters, Mrs. Jack (Katherine) Gregor, Erie, Pa, Rose Becker, Montgomery, IL, and Mrs. Jack (Willie) Delaney, Watertown.

She was predeceased by a son, Edward, September 11, 1995. 2 brothers Johann Zobel, George Toper, a sister, Hilda Grant and a grandson, Martin Horeth also predeceased her.

The funeral will be Tuesday 1pm at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Arsenal St., with Rev. Paul Luisi, officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery.
