Joseph McCotter

Joseph McCotter, 74, formerly High St., Watertown and Antwerp, died Thursday morning at Mercy of Northern New York where he had resided for several years.
Mr. McCotter raised purebred dogs and showed them for US and Canadian championships.
He was born in Kilrea, Northern Ireland, February 12, 1933, a son of Denis and Bridget Crilly McCotter. He came to the US as a young man. He worked for the Teamsters Union as an explosives technician and later was a cattle farmer in the Theresa – Oxbow area for many years.
He married Bridget Baxter in 1962.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a step-son and his wife, John and Ione Parker, Calcium. His son Dennis, died in 1982 at age 19. He was also predeceased by his twin brother James and a brother Dennis.
A prayer service will be Saturday 2pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Antwerp. A calling hour will be Saturday from 1:00pm until 2pm at the funeral home.
