caroline B. 'Tootie' Metzler The funeral for Caroline B. “Tootie” Metzler will be Friday 11am at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Gregory Gates and Deacon Connie Paige of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Richville. Calling hours are Thursday from 5p – 8pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Metzler, 69, of 530 W. Mullin St., died Tuesday at the Samaritan Medical Center where she had been a patient since December 16th.

She was born in Edwards, June 3, 1938, a daughter of Lewis O. and Bernice (Bunny) Woods Rice, Sr. She was educated in Edwards schools. She married Wayne R. Metzler, Sr., July 7, 1956 in Edwards. Mr. Metzler died January 28th, 1994. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Metzler attended the Church of the Nazarene in Gouverneur where he mother taught Sunday school and her father was an usher. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Watertown for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards and Nintendo.

She is survived by 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne Jr. and Alice, and Gary Sr., both of Calcium, Byron, Watertown. 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Sherry and Ken Countryman, Debra Millsap and her fiancé’ Doug Woolschlager, Carmen and Michael Roberts and Deana Parkis, all of Watertown. 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. A sister, Rosemary Warner and her companion, Hugh Dangerfield, Watertown. A brother, Lewis Rice, Jr., Florida. Several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Ricky, a grandson, Timothy Metzler and a brother, Byron Rice.
