Wallace Frank Smith

Wallace Frank Smith, 69, 17747 US RT. 11 died Monday morning at his home while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Born June 19, 1938 in Watertown to Wallace K. and Alice E. Turner Smith, he attended school in Alexandria Bay and Adams Center. He married Grace Remington Sept 4, 1958 at the Remington family home in Adams. Mr. Smith was a farmer and worked at area farms including Whitecrest in Adams and the O’Dell farm in Rutland retiring in 1992.

Mr. Smith enjoyed crossword puzzles, plastic canvas, country music, square dancing, playing guitar, gardening, cooking and his Yorkshire terrier.

Surviving besides his wife Grace are one son and his wife Kenneth and Sheila Smith, UT. Five daughters and their husbands Patricia and Timothy England, Katherine Smith-Sykes, all of Watertown, Frances and Percy Carr, Sandra and Joe Barbarito all of NC and Loie Palas of TX. One brother Lee Wayne Smith, S. Rutland, Three sisters Betty Simpson, Marsha Railing both of Watertown, Penny and Doug Cronk, Mannsville, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A sister Audrey Yerdon and a brother John “Pete” Smith and son in law Raymond Sykes died before him.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 4 pm at the funeral home with Rev. John Williams officiating. A calling hour will be Thursday from 3pm – 4pm preceding the service. Burial will be in the spring at Adams Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
