Nellie G. Doull

Nellie G. Doull, 94 of 24301 NYS Rt. 12, widow of Glenn S. Doull, died Sunday afternoon at her home.

Mrs. Doull was born April 12, 1913 in Clayton, NY to John H. and Ida B. Balcom Graves. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1928 at the age of 15. She later graduated from the Watertown School of Commerce. She married Glenn S. Doull August 17, 1940 at the Sandy Creek United Methodist Parsonage, Rev. Herbert Harrison officiating. Mr. Doull died February 23, 1995.

Mrs. Doull worked from 1929-1942 for the City of Watertown as Secretary to the Commissioner of Welfare. She later worked as Administrative Officer of the Watertown Regional Office of the State Department of Transportation retiring in 1972 after 23 years. While there she attained the highest position in District 7 civil service.

Mrs. Doull was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and enjoyed ice skating, skiing, traveling, reading and her summer cottage on Lake Ontario.

Surviving are a son and his wife William and Melodee Doull, Cape Vincent, a daughter and her husband Jannell and Michael Keefe, Massena, two grandchildren Karlyn and her husband Richard Alvarado, Rochester, and Marc L. Doull, Buffalo. A sister Marion McHugh died before her.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Brownville Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations can be made in her honor to the Glenn S. Doull Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o The NNY Community Foundation, HSBC Bldg, 120 Washington St., Suite 400, Watertown. Arrangements are with the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
