Jean M. Parks, 84, of Weaver Rd., widow of Harold A. Parks, died Sunday morning at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Mrs. Parks was employed at Faichney’s Instrument / Chesebrough Pond’s for over 25 years and retired in 1986 as bookkeeper for Harold A. Parks Enterprises, Watertown.
She was born in Alexandria Bay, July 23, 1923, a daughter of Claude and Bertha Parker House. She graduated from Alexandria Bay High School. She married Harold Arthur Parks, May 6, 1945 at her parents’ home. Mr. Parks, owner and operator of Harold A. Parks & Sons, died April 13, 1997.
Mrs. Parks was a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Copenhagen Chapter # 436, member of Club 47 at the Rutland United Congregational Church of Christ, and the Ladies Auxilary of the Rutland Volunteer Fire Department.
She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Neil and Francis, Kenneth and Carol, Rutland Center, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jack Hadley, Rutland Center, Jane and Fred Gallant, Potsdam. 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. 2 sisters, Fern House and Verna Leeson and a brother, Wayne House, predeceased her.
The funeral will be Wednesday, 12 noon at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Town of Rutland. Calling hours are Tuesday from 6p – 9pm and Wednesday from 10am – 12 noon at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to Hospice of Jefferson County.
