Velma L. Murphy

Velma L. Murphy 82, of 8902 US Route 11, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon at her home.
She was born January 16, 1926 in Dexter, a daughter of William and Lena Westbrook, Reed. She attended Adams High School and received a Licensed Practical Nursing degree from BOCES of Jefferson County. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Samaritan Medical Center before receiving her nursing degree and then as an LPN at Samaritan Medical Center until her retirement in 1992.
She had lived in her home on Route 11 since it was built in 1953. A marriage ended in divorce.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Wayne and Jackie of Parish, and David and Jane of Adams; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Pearl Graves, Alice Ackley and Willemina Relyea
Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, reading, spending time with family, and attending garage sales.
A graveside service will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Adams Rural Cemetery, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.
