Doreen Barclay

The funeral service for Doreen Barclay 73, formerly of US Route 11 South, will be 3:00PM Monday at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville with Rev. Thomas Williams pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, Pulaski, officiating. Burial will be in the Ellisburg Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Monday 1:00 to 3:00PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barclay died Thursday afternoon in the Mercy Care Center where she had been a resident for two years.

She was born November 4, 1934 in Cheshire, England, the daughter of George and Doris Curshley, Handley. She married Robert A. Barclay in Warrington, England where he was serving in the U.S. Air Force.

The couple moved to the Adams area following Mr. Barclay’s retirement from the military. Mr. Barclay died May 25, 1992. Mrs. Barclay was a Registered Nurse with the Jefferson County Public Health for many years retiring in 1997.

She is survived by a brother and his wife, Geoffrey and Christine Handley, Stafford, England. She was predeceased also by a daughter, Deborah A. Barclay in June of 1968.
