Jean A. Claflin

Jean A. Claflin, 82, of W. Church St., died Monday afternoon at the Samaritan Medical Center where she had been a patient since Saturday.
Mrs. Claflin was an aide at the Gables Adult Home in Adams for 22 years.
She was born in Henderson Harbor, April 10, 1925, a daughter of Frank and Mary Greene Barrett. She was educated in Adams High School. She worked at the River Valley Inn, Mannsville for over 9 years and at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Adams for 7 years. Mrs. Claflin managed her son’s sporting goods store on Point Peninsula for 3 years. She married Winifred Claflin in 1943. They divorced in 1959.
Mrs. Claflin was a 63 year member and past chaplain of the Adams American Legion, Donald Rounds Post # 586. She was past president of the Taylor –Nichols VFW before it disbanded.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Kathy, Three Mile Bay. 2 grandsons and their wives, Shawn and Toni, Lacona, Adam and Amber, Adams. 4 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. 2 brothers, Raymond Barrett and Stanley Barrett (in infancy) and 4 sisters, Dorothy Souva, Beverly Dudley, Frances Smith and Margaret Otis predeceased her.
The funeral will be Friday 11am at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Spring burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Thursday from 2p – 4pm and 7p – 9pm at the funeral home. Members of the Donald Rounds Post #586 American Legion Auxillary will conduct a memorial service Thursday at 7pm at the funeral home.
