Eunice Mather Pelton Eunice Mather Pelton, 95, formerly of Belleville, died Monday at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had resided since October of 2001.

Mrs. Pelton was a Physical Therapist at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital, now Samaritan Medical Center, and for Jefferson County Public Health for over 20 years.

She was born October 23, 1912 in the Town of Henderson, a daughter of William A. and Florence Newcomb Mather. She graduated from Union Academy Belleville in 1930 and from Boston University in 1934. She was raised on and later operated the Mather Farms on Rt. 178 in the Town of Henderson until 1955. She married George K. Pelton in 1934. They were divorced in 1958.

Mrs. Pelton was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Watertown, the Samaritan Loyals and the Good Neighbor Club.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Patricia Nichols, Leesburg, FL, Penelope P. Cool, Oxford, FL, Polly K. Brown, Henderson Harbor, and Pamela G. Maracle, Watertown. 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. A grandson predeceased her.

Private services will be held in the spring for the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Henderson following cremation. Contributions may be made to the W.A. Mather Scholarship Fund, the UAB Board of Trustees or to the Evergreen Cemetery Association.
