Grace A. Hess

Grace A. Hess, 81, formerly of Rt. 289, died Thursday evening at the Lewis Co. Residential Health Care Facility where she had resided for 2 years.

Mrs. Hess worked at Lallie’s Manufacturing in Adams, Mercer’s Conveinence Store in Adams and at the Jefferson Bulk Cheese Store on Rt. 3 in East Hounsfield.

She was born August 25, 1926 in the Town of Hounsfield, a daughter of Harold and Theda Cornwell Secor. She was educated in local schools. She married Henry M. Hess, September 26, 1943 in Ellisburg with Rev. Kerr, officiating.

Beside her husband of Belleville, she is survived by 2 sons, David, Henderson and Randy, Belleville. A daughter, Patti Gerlach, Belleville. 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. A brother, Richard Secor, Oswego. A sister, Florence Burgess, Arkansas. Several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Sunday 2pm at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Henderson. Calling hours are Sunday from 12 noon until 2pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Lewis County.
