Irving F. Porter September 7, 2007

Irving F. Porter 91, of 5289 Log London Road, died in the Emergency Room at the Samaritan Medical Center, Friday morning, after being stricken ill at home.

He was born July 21, 1916 in Watertown, a son of Jesse and Laura Cole, Porter. He graduated from Eastwood High School in Syracuse. Mr. Porter served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

He married Marion Cratsenberg February 12, 1952 in Burville, he owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Ellisburg, He retired from Queens Farms Dairy in Pierrepont Manor, he was a member of the Teamsters Union and was Union Steward while working at the milk plant.

He also worked with the Green Thumb program at Southwicks Beach for 23 years retiring from that program in 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; 2 sons and their wives, Jesse and Carol Porter of Mannsville, Randy and Chrys Porter of Greene; 3 daughters and 2 son-in-laws, Carol Worthington of Ellisburg, Vicki and Gary Smithers of Ellisburg, Robin and Tom Ferlito of Mannsville; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Floyd Porter and a son-in-law, Bob Worthington.

He was a member of the Mannsville United Methodist Church, the Don Rounds American Legion Post #586, and the South Jefferson Memorial VFW Post #5344, both in Adams.

He enjoyed doing carpentry projects, vegetable gardening, playing pinnacle and horseshoes. He and Marion were snowbirds, spending their winters in Palatka, FL.

The funeral service will be 10:00AM Monday at the Mannsville United Methodist Church, with pastor Mary Drake officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00PM at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.
