The funeral for LaVern D. Parker will be Sunday 2pm at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville with Rev. Russell Gaulke, Pastor of the Honeyville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Adams Center. Calling hours are Saturday from 2p – 4pm and 7p – 9pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to a family trust to be established at the Adams branch of the Watertown Savings Bank, to the Rodman Volunteer Fire Department, or to the Honeyville Baptist Church, Rt 177, Adams Center.
Mr. Parker, 49, of Co Rt 155, Dry Hill Rd., died Wednesday at his home from injuries sustained from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was born in Watertown, March 13, 1958, a son of Donald and Clara Hoppins Parker. He graduated from South Jefferson Central School in 1977. Mr. Parker operated the family dairy farm on Dry Hill and operated his dairy cattle hauling business.
Mr. Parker enjoyed being with his friends and family and especially helping his three children show cows at county fair’s and The New York State Fair. He was a member of the Rodman Volunteer Fire Department and the Adams Center Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting with his children.
A marriage to Mary Lou Harmych ended in divorce.
He is survived by two sons, Dustin and his fiancé’, Amanda Hosmer, and Kyle, all of Adams Center. A daughter, Lyndsay, Adams Center. His mother, Clara Trumble, Philadelphia,. 3 sisters, and two brothers-in-law, Nancy and Ken Fuller, Mannsville, Patricia Akin, Sackets Harbor and her companion, Gary Babcock, Watertown, Marion and Duane Hess, Adams Center. A brother and his companion, Kenny Trumble and Michelle Chappel, Philadelphia. 6 nephews, 2 nieces and 2 grandnephews. His father died in 2006.
