The funeral for Danny E. Balch will be Wednesday 1pm at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Mary Drake, pastor of the Mannsville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Mannsville. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2p – 4pm and 7p – 9pm at the funeral home. Members of Rising Light Lodge, F & AM # 637 will conduct a memorial service Tuesday, 8:30pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Maplewood Cemetery, Mannsville.
Mr. Balch, 66, of 15093 Brown Rd., died Thursday from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident on I-84, near Grovehill, Alabama which also claimed the life of a brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Jean Balch of Haughton, La. There funerals will be held in Shreveport, La.
Mr. Balch was born in Mannsville, June 26, 1941, a son of Manford and Marion Brown Balch. He was educated in Mannsville High School. Following his schooling, he worked for the Howard Lane farm in Henderson for 8 years. He went to work for the South Jefferson School District as a custodian and retired from there in 2000 after many years of service. He also drove school bus for the district for several years. Two marriages ended in divorce.
He was a member of Rising Light Lodge F & AM # 637, Belleville and was serving as treasurer. He was a member of the Mad River Hunting Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Brooke and Creg Bonno, Beavercreek, OH. 2 grandchildren. A sister, Berna Dene Lane, Henderson. A brother and his wife, Ira (Ike) and Candee Balch, Waterloo. Several nieces and nephews. Besides his brother Bernard, he was also predeceased by a brother, Volney in May of 2006.
