Wallace A. Kirby 77

Wallace A. Kirby Wallace A. Kirby 77, of 216 Lorraine St., died Wednesday afternoon, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson Co.

He was born June 8, 1930 in Camden, a son of Delbert and Sylvia Adsit, Kirby. He served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and was stationed on Okinawa during this time.

He married Viola A. Holmes December 22, 1951 in the Mannsville Methodist Church. He worked at General Electric in Syracuse for 2 years before going to work at Carrier Corporation. He retired in 1992 after 33 years with Carrier Corp.

Surviving with his wife, Viola; are 3 sons and 2 daughter-in-laws, Wayne and Sheila Kirby of Fulton, Robert Kirby of Richland, and Keith and Michelle Kirby of Belleville; a daughter, Helen Kirby of Mannsville; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Judy Agugliaro of Sandy Creek, and Vicki and Norman Stevens of Lacona; a brother and his wife, George and Dale Kirby of Mannsville; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister Rosemary Gunderson.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, socializing with friends and family at his camp, and driving his electric scooter around Mannsville.

The funeral service will be 10:00AM Saturday at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Mary Drake, pastor of the Mannsville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Mannsville.

Calling hours will be 7:00 to 9:00PM Friday, at the funeral home.
