Bernard Arthur Moore, Sr

Bernard Arthur Moore, Sr. 76, of 12373 County Route 79, died Thursday morning at his home. He had been in ill health for some time.
He was born on the Danley Farm in the Town of Henderson September 7, 1930, a son of Charles Perry and Emogene Margaret Phillips Moore, Jr. He graduated from Henderson Central School in 1948, went to Liverpool to continue his education in blueprint reading, design and welding. He worked at the Carrier Corporation from 1953 to 1957. He then returned to farming in the South Jefferson area until retiring in 1992.
He married Joanna Jones November 16, 1957 in the parsonage of the Belleville United Methodist Church with Rev. Miles Hutchinson officiating. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and trap shooting. He was a member of the Northern Tier Trap League as well as president of the Belleville Busters for many years. He still holds the league record for the most continuous clay pigeons broken during a league shoot. This was accomplished in 1976. He was best know for his heckling ways, chicken barbeques, delivering his garden products around the area, his honesty and hard work. He enjoyed living life, his favorite words to live by were, “work hard, play hard!”
He is survived by his wife, Joanna; 4 sons and their wives, Bernard Jr. and Deigh Stephenson of Lewisville, TX, Bruce Alan and Valerie McGrath of Wolcott, Benjamin Alden and Tine Larkin of Adams, Bradley Andrew and Janice Meyer of Rochester; 2 brothers and their wives, Clyde Edward and Nancy Lane of Henderson, and Grover James and Helaine Sanders of Fort Meyers, FL; 2 sisters, Mrs. Robert (Elva Jean) LaComb of Sebring, FL, Mrs. Paul (Elsa Jane) Cobb of Mannsville; 14 Grandchildren; 2 Great- Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Royce Perry and Hugh Landon.
There will be no funeral and no calling hours, the body will be cremated. Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home.
