Sestilio “John” Aureli 66, a former resident of Ellisburg, and Pierrepont Manor, died Sunday, June 3rd, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston, VT. He had lived in
Winooski, VT for the past 45 years.
John was born in Syracuse on May 29, 1941, the son of Sestilio and Minerva Colwell, Aureli. He attended Belleville Central School and was a 1959 graduate of Mannsville-Manor Central School. He attended Canton A.T.I. and worked for 2 years in Lake Placid. He married Katherine Roy on June 30, 1962 in Winooski, VT. He retired in 1992 after 30 years as a supervisor with I.B.M. in Essex, VT.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, he was a member of NHRA and ran stock dragsters, on the east coast, in various events from Canada to Florida in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. He enjoyed time spent on his boat “At Ease” on Mallets’ Bay, and especially his grandchildren. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the St. Francis Xavier Home and School Association, and a member of the Pier 10 yacht club.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine; 3 daughters and 2 son-in-laws, Sheila and Damon Kahaya of Colchester, VT, Karen Aureli of Winooski, VT, Cindy and Jason Lefebvre of Milton, VT; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shannon Aureli of Milton, VT; 7 grandchildren, Lexie and Nick Kahaya, Kelsey and Matthew Aureli, Amanda and Christopher Lefebvre and Rachel Aureli; a sister and her husband, Jane (Aureli) and William Stoodley of Belleville; 3 brothers and 2 sister-in-laws, Gary Morenus of Winooski, VT, Rod and Kathy Morenus of Belleville, and David and Leslie Morenus of Mayport, FL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service and burial were at the convenience of the family, arrangements were with the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St., Winooski, VT.
