June V. Kast 97, of 87 East Church St., Country View Apartments, died Monday morning, at her home, she had been under Hospice care for the past three weeks.
She was born June 8, 1910 in the Town of Ellisburg, the daughter of Henry A. and Mabel Parker, Veley. She attended local schools. She worked as a waitress at the Gill House in Henderson Harbor from 1925 to 1942.
She married Elwin Kast March 29, 1942 in Sandy Creek, following their marriage they operated a dairy farm on Route 3 in the Town of Ellisburg until 1954 when the opened the Kast Trailer Park on Renshaw Bay, also in the Town of Ellisburg. Mr. Kast died October 6, 1975, and Mrs. Kast continued operating the Trailer Park until 1978 when it was sold and she retired.
She moved to Country View Apartments in 1995, she enjoyed doing needle point, and watching sports on TV, especially Syracuse basketball.
She was a member of the Ellisburg United Methodist Church, the Ellisburg Willing Workers and the Ellisburg Good Neighbor Club.
Survivors include her caregiver, Beverly Downey of Woodville; 5 nephews, Lawrence Veley and Aubrey Veley of Ellisburg, Donald Veley of Mannsville, Richard Veley of Mexico and James Veley of the state of Texas.
She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Rex, Hollis and Henry Veley, Jr.
The funeral service will be 11:00AM Wednesday at the Ellisburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Harris, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Ellisburg Cemetery. There will be no calling hours, arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.
