Marshall C. Barney

The funeral for Marshall C. Barney will be Monday 11am at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home with Rev. Sharon Satterlee, pastor of the Belleville United Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Woodside Cemetery following cremation. Calling hours are Sunday from 2p – 4pm and 7p – 9pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Belleville Methodist Church or the Belleville Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Barney, 76, of Seminole Florida and formerly of Belleville, died Wednesday at his home in Florida.
He was born in Belleville, July 9, 1930, a son of Mark and Genevieve Williams Barney. He graduated from Union Academy, Belleville in 1947 and Canton ATI. Mr. Barney worked for the Eastman Corporation in Ellisburg as a heavy equipment operator until starting his own company, M.C. Barney Excavating in 1968. He opened a snowmobile sales and service business at his home in Belleville in 1972 selling Ski Daddler, Allouette and Rupp snowmobiles.
He married Cynthia Brown, February 28, 1958 at the home of his father-in-law, George Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Barney moved to Florida November 1, 1980. He drove bus for the Oak Manor Retirement Community in Seminole until his retirement due to disability in 1990.
He was a former member of the Belleville Volunteer Fire Department and the Land Improvement Contractors of America. Mr. and Mrs. Barney spent summers at their camp on Crystal Lake, Town of Henderson.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Danford and Tammy, Cummings, GA. 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Dillon, Seminole, FL, Valerie and Thomas (T.J.) Sarto, St. Petersburg, FL. 5 grandchildren. A sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Fred Millard, Woodville. Nieces and nephews. A sister-in-law, Helen Barney, Woodville. A brother, Richard “Bud” died January 11, 2006.
