Joseph Vaadi January 16, 2007

Joseph Vaadi, II, 88, of 47 Wardwell St., died Tuesday at Mercy of Northern New York where he had been a resident for 2 years.

Mr. Vaadi was a mechanic for the New York State Department of Transportation in Watertown for over 24 years. He also operated farms in LaFargeville and Rodman raising a registered breed of Milking Shorthorn cows.

He was born in the Town of Orleans, March 5, 1918, a son of Steven and Anna Saletri Vaadi. He attended schools in Watertown and Chicago. He married Elizabeth Jane Doroha, January 30, 1943 at St. John’s Catholic Church in LaFargeville.

Mr. Vaadi was a sports enthusiast playing in a town baseball league in LaFargeville and participating in bowling leagues. He enjoyed spending time in the woods.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Thomas Fleming, Copenhagen, Janice and Martin Biezad, Mesa, AZ, Susan and Martin Lee, Jerome, Idaho. 3 sons, a daughter-in-law and companion, Joseph S., Potsdam, Douglas S. and his companion, Margrette Duffany, Rodman, Charles A. (Chip) and Gail, Lacona. 4 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. 2 brothers, Steven and Anthony, and an infant sister Anna, all predeceased him.

A memorial service will be Thursday 11am at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Douglas Decker, pastor of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Adams, officiating.
