Donald H. Rumsey The funeral for Donald H. Rumsey, Jr. will be Monday 11am at the Smithville Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Wilson, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in Smithville Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 2p – 4pm and 7p – 9pm at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Contributions may be made to the Smithville Baptist Church or to the Smithville Fire Department.

Mr. Rumsey, 68, of 14090 Co. Rt 75, died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Ithaca, August 7, 1938, a son of Donald and Vivian Jones Rumsey, Sr. He was educated in Adams Center schools. He served with the Marine Corps for a brief time.

Mr. Rumsey was employed as a machinist at the New York Air Brake, Keenan Electric, Fisher Gage, all of Watertown, Carrier Corp in Syracuse, and retired in 1995 from Black Clawson in Watertown after 20 years of service.

Mr. Rumsey was a member and board member of the Smithville Baptist Church, the Smithville Volunteer Fire Department. In 1989 he received his 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He married Linda Murphy, March 20, 1967.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Hank and Opal, Smithville, Michael, Adams Center. 3 daughters, Cindy Fuller, Kansas, Vicki Amilee, Phoenix, AZ, Paula Sherman, Adams. 14 grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. A half brother, Alan Jones and a half sister, Denise Jones of FL. A sister Yvonne Shoemaker, a half brother, Ricky Jones and a half sister Kathy Jones, predeceased him.
