Wilfred O. “Bud” Zeller

Wilfred O. “Bud” Zeller, 72, of Co Rt 79, died Wednesday morning at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where he had been a resident for 3 weeks. He was admitted to the Samaritan Medical Center on January 1st.

Mr. Zeller was a maintenenceman with the Watertown Housing Authority for 10 years and a heavy equipment mechanic for Owl Surplus in Cicero for 13 years retiring at age 62.

He was born in Hermon, April 10, 1934, a son of Alton and Agnes Newvine Zeller. He was educated in local schools and served two years with the US Air Force. He married Ruth N. Burnham, December 16, 1960. Mr. Zeller was a volunteer at the Samaritan Keep Home laundry for 8 years. He enjoyed raising roses and had an expansive rose garden at his home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy E. and Jane, Ellisburg, Douglas E., Hastings, Arthur A., Adams. A daughter and son-in-law, Tina M. and John Nohle, Adams Center. 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren. 2 sisters, Lillian Loomis, Watertown, Joanna (David) Augustyn, Glenfield. A brother, Eugene, Chicago. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son James R. in 1984. Three brothers, James, Willard, and Henry, and five sisters, Loula and Winifred Zeller, Vivian Timmerman, Vallance Baker and Beverly Woodside. Another sister was stillborn.

The funeral will be Saturday 11am at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Thomas Wilson, pastor of the Smithville Baptist Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Woodside Cemetery, Belleville. Calling hours are Friday from 2p – 4pm and 7p – 9pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
