Carl L. Eastman

The funeral service for Carl L. Eastman 94, of 12092 Joslyn Road, will be Sunday at 3:00PM at the Carpenter-Stoodley funeral home, Belleville. Burial will be in the Ellisburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 1:00 to 3:00PM, at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
Mr. Eastman was born October 30, 1912 in Ellisburg, a son of Everett E. and Pearl Crandall, Eastman. He graduated from the Union Academy of Belleville.
He worked on the Thousand Islands Bridge in 1938, he worked as a carpenter at Pine Camp, and then served with the Army during World War II. He received the Asiatic-Pacific service medal, a good conduct medal,, and a World War II victory medal.
In 1948 he created the Eastman Brothers Silo business with his brother Paul. Many of the poured concrete silos can still be seen through out the state. The business expanded into Eastman Corporation using heavy equipment. they built and operated Eastman Marina in Henderson Harbor for many years. He was an active member of the Ellisburg Fire Department, the Ellisburg Cemetery Board of Trustees, and the New York chapter of Land Improvement Contractors of America. He received the Contractor of the Year Award in 1985 from this organization.
He is survived by 4 daughters and their husbands, Diane and Ron Steszewski of Pittsford, Elaine and Edward Streeter of Adams, Ruth and John Cerio of Camillus, Anne and Tom Eastman-Reap of Central Square; a son and his wife, David and Paulyn of Woodville; a sister, Doris Brown of Ellisburg; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 4 brothers, Gerald, Charles, Harry and Paul.
Carl enjoyed the Black River Fiddlers concerts, and the senior citizen dances, he was and avid card player. He also enjoyed spending his time with his family.
