Wendell H. 'Wendy' Cean Wendell H. “Wendy” Cean 77, formerly of South Main Street, died Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Trudi and Larry Bertram, at 5214 Wilder Road, Pierrepont Manor, following a lengthy illness. He was under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County and his family.

He was born September 6, 1929 in Watertown, a son of Charles E. and Inez Kissel Cean. He attended school in Dexter.

He married Jennie C. Compo April 19, 1952 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Adams with Monsignor Walter Cleary officiating. He worked at the Dexter Paper Mill for several years, and for the New York State Department of Transportation, retiring in 1975 due to illness.

Surviving with his wife, Jennie; are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Lori Cean of Pierrepont Manor; 3 daughters and 2 son-in-laws, Nancy Alford of Adams, Trudi and Larry Bertram, Pamela and Jerry Korec of Naples, FL; 4 Grandsons, 5 Grand - daughters; 3 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons, and 3 Great-granddaughters.

He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Niles, and twins, Arnold and Donald.

He enjoyed working is his workshop, working in his yard using his, pride and joy, John Deere lawn tractor.

A Memorial Service will be 3:00PM Saturday at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Linda Harris, pastor of the Ellisburg United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
