Loren J. (Pete) Austin

Loren J. (Pete) Austin 82, formerly of 219 Lorraine St., died Saturday, April 28th at E.W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. He had been a patient since Wednesday April 25th.

Mr. Austin had been living in East Lansing, MI with his daughter Mary Ellen Austin since the death of his wife Rebecca February 9, 1999.

He was born November 23, 1924, in the Town of Ellisburg, a son of Harry F. and Cora Gardner, Austin. He graduated from Mannsville Manor Central School in 1943. He married Rebecca Marie Miller February 6, 1946 In Lacona. They lived at their home in Mannsville all their married lives. It was in June of 1999, after the death of is wife that he moved to his daughters home in East Lansing, MI.

Mr. Austin did construction work, was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, and was a custodian for the Mannsville School building.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ellen Austin of East Lansing, MI; a sister, Evelyn “Peg” Ebdon of Adams; 2 grandchildren, Jason of Tustin, CA, and Tyler of Lansing, MI; and 4 great-grandchildren, Rachel, Jordan, Rebecca and Charlotte.

At Mr. Austin’s request there will be no funeral service, no calling hours, and burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.
